"Show me thy ways, O LORD, teach me thy paths." Ps. 25:4
For all these time when I am searching for my seminary decision, I have always prayed, "teach me MY ways, O LORD." What a shock when I read this verse this morning "teach me THY ways, O LORD."
It's not about me or my ways. It's God's way, His way of doing things, His paths that He wants me to walk on, His truth that I need to learn. "Lead me in thy truth, and teach me." (25:5) All day long I look into my abilities and gifts and think about what should I do for my future, but the Psalmist say "for thou art the God of my salvation, on thee do I wait all the day." (25:5b) Once again it's not about my gifts or talents and choosing my path according to them, but I should be waiting on God all the day long, for He is my salvation.
"Yea, let none that wait on thee be ashamed." (v.3) I will not be ashamed when I wait on God, wait for His salvation, wait for His help, wait for Him to redeem my soul from ever wondering, and ever anxiety. I will wait on Him to show me His way everyday, for each day has its own burdens, I do not need to worry about the future which is not here yet. Let my soul wait on Him.
"Good and upright is the LORD, therefore will He teach sinners in the way." (v.6) I am thankful that God is good and upright, and His ways are good and upright. He is not a wicked and crooked God who will lead us astray, He is good, and He will do what's right! How precious! How good it is for a sinner like me to hear that.
"What man is he that feareth the Lord? him shall he teach in the way that he shall choose. His soul shall dwell at ease, and his seed shall inherit the earth." (v.12-13)
Oh I need to fear Him more, and what a promise He has given me, that my seed will inherit the earth. My child Hannah will be taken care of, she will not only be fine, but she will do great!
"The secret of the LORD is with them that fear Him, and He will show them His covenant." (v.14) Praise the Lord for His grace and wonderful promise. God will show me His covenant if I fear Him. He will sign a covenant with me, He will sign a peace treaty with me, and He will not destroy me but bless me, and I will keep my covenant duty to fear Him and love Him. What a blessing it is for God to show us His covenant.
"Unto thee O Lord, do I lift up my soul. O my God, I trust in thee, let me not be ashamed, let not mine enemies triumph over me!" (v. 1-2)
